In December 2017, Volunteer Hamilton closed down due to lack of stable funding (The end for Volunteer Hamilton, The Spectator). This was a major loss for our community.
Volunteer Hamilton was a hub both for the posting and finding of volunteer opportunities, but also for the development of volunteer programs and practices. Staff at Volunteer Hamilton helped to strengthen public-benefit organizations in our community and increase their capacity and reach through volunteerism.
Despite this loss, Hamilton continues to volunteer. This letter from Flamborough Connects, a member agency of Volunteer Hamilton, shared recommendations for agencies looking for new places to post volunteer opportunities. It was the inspiration for the list of local resources on this site.
